Broken Arm

We have our first official broken arm in the family. We were at McDonalds last night with some friends and Kai jumped off the play equipment and landed "just right". I wasn't sure it was broken, but after an off duty nurse looked at it and said if it were her kid she would take him to the hospital Matt took him to the children's hospital down town. Initially there was a lot of crying but once he calmed down Kai has been a trooper through the experience. He has a temporary wrap on his arm and the orthopedic doctor can't see him until Monday to put a permanent cast on.
He will not be able to finish out the baseball season but we plan to be there to cheer the team on through the play offs.
We think when he gets the cast he will be in it for approximately 6 weeks (just in time for swimming season thankfully). It was his left arm which is good since he is right handed.

Gorillas

This is Kai's first kindergarten report on Gorillas. I am continually amazed at what they have learned this year in school. They are far beyond where I was at that age. I remember learning my letters, playing, eating snack and going home after a short 3 1/2 hours at that age. Kai is reading, does "math investigations", science, will be learning persuasive writing and the list goes on. We have had a wonderful year, he has the best teacher ever. I am sad for this year to come to a close. We are proud of Kai and how hard he has worked.

Easter

I feel like Easter snuck up on us this year. I managed to climb up in the attic 2 days before Easter to dig the baskets out, throw some bunny place mats on the table and grabbed my Easter tree to use as a center piece.
I think my kids had a good Easter though. It was fun to see the excitement in their eyes as they searched the house for eggs and their baskets Easter morning. Kai was most interested in playing with his new "Shark Bite Bay" and Kaden, stuffing his face with candy.
Since Kai was 3 one of his favorite scripture stories was the Easter story so he helped teach it to Kaden this year.

Spring Break

It was my goal this year to set the house work aside and do something "fun" each day of spring break with the kids. Despite the torrential rains we experienced we had a pretty busy week. We started out by seeing Monsters vs. Aliens which Kai loved (me, I thought it was marginal). Monday we went hiking with some friends to a marsh which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Kaden was a trooper and hiked the whole way, just telling me toward the end he was getting tired. Tuesday we went to the park and played all morning with friends. Wednesday it totally rained so we baked and frosted Easter cookies and rented Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Thursday a friend invited us to the zoo so we quickly took her up on the offer. Friday I ventured out to the beach by myself with the kids, it was BEAUTIFUL and the kids had a ball. All in all I think it was a pretty fun week. It's kind of nice the kids are getting a little older so we can just go in a minutes notice without worrying about naps, diapers, strollers, baby food. I think we'll stay pretty busy this summer, mostly in the pool since, as Steph put it, "the Africa weather" is coming.
My camera is "crapping" out so I didn't get a lot of pictures this week. :(
