The big ouch

Kaden taught himself how to ride Kai's old bike and has been so proud that he has learned to pedal himself all over the back patio.  Last night he took a big spill though.  He got the biggest knot on his head.  It freaked me out, but we gave him a bath to clean him up, motrin and I sat holding him with ice on his head for as long as he'd let me.  We kept him up for awhile to monitor him.  I shined the flashlight in his eyes to check his pupils,  had him walk around to make sure he hadn't lost his balance and asked him questions to make sure he was coherent and his speech wasn't slurred.   The swelling has gone down today.
Poor Kaden.
None of my parenthood classes in college mentioned needing a nursing degree.

One of those days...

Today has been "one of those days" with Kaden.  Started early, hasn't stopped all day.  I was on the computer and I heard him in the bathroom so I went in and this is what I found.  I asked him what he had on his hair and he said, "nuffing" translation, "nothing", which is what he always says when I ask him what he's doing when he's doing something he shouldn't.
The culprit?  Cars hair gel.  At least it was gel and he knew where to put it right?  It has to make you laugh.

I love to see the temple

Matt had a business trip down to Orlando this weekend and asked if we wanted to come along. We spent the day shopping yesterday and I decided to take the kids to see the temple after we dropped Matt off this morning.  It was a beautiful Florida day.

A day with grandpa

I haven't seen my dad in about 7 years (so my kids have never met him) and he was able to come out to Pendleton for the day while we were there last month.  We started the morning at McDonalds (so we could let the kids play and we could visit), went onto the park, tried to go bowling but the wait was too long and then it was onto pizza for lunch and to Jaime's to hang out for the afternoon.  It was sad to say good-bye but Jaime sent him on his way with some snickerdoodles (his favorite).

Tired boy!

Matt got a new guitar hero game for Christmas and that's pretty much what he spent his break doing, playing with Lance, our brother in law.  He started to play last night and Kaden wanted to join in, as you can see he didn't last long.  He fell asleep with guitar in hand (music blaring).  Too much action this past couple weeks, it finally caught up to him.

Happy New Year!

We set off on our long journey home on New Year's Eve.  We drove about 1 1/2 hours to Pasco, Washington to catch the flight, flew to Denver, then onto Orlando where we landed and drove 2 hours home.  We got into bed around 4:00 a.m. this morning.  The coolest thing about our trip was flying over Disney at midnight and seeing their fireworks display from the plane.  In years past I have rarely stayed up until midnight on New Year's Eve.  We got to see many fireworks displays as we flew into Orlando.
One other fun thing about the flight, you can see my kids are in their Aggie shirts Aunt Jenny sent them from Utah State (Matt and I are both USU alumni).  There were a couple other little kids in their "Y" shirts at the back end of the plane.
